Hopehill Campsite

Hopehill campsite is owned and operated by Gravesham Scouts.  Scouts, Guides, Schools, other youth groups and other organisations use the site throughout the year.

Buildings

The Clifford Allen building comprises:

  • the main hall - seats over 100

  • two smaller halls, the Lions and Barnes wings; the Barnes wing can be combined with the main hall

  • New heating throughout

  • two kitchens, both with commercial six burner gas stoves, ovens and toasters

  • male and female toilets and showers

  • the smaller halls both come with two side rooms with bunks and mattresses to put on the floor

  • tables, benches and chairs are provided

  • The building also contains the warden's office, site tuck shop. district archive and stores.

Camping

There are 10 sites on the East and West camping fields; larger groups may need multiple sites.  All have easy access to the toilet block and water taps.

The 5 acre field has eleven glades suitable for small groups or those wanting more privacy.  There is a water tap at the entrance to the field and the toilet block is across the activity field.

Want to camp but not bring a kitchen? Starsky and Hutch are our field kitchens with 6 ring gas stove, large oven, fridge / freezer, sinks with hot water and worktops / storage.

Activities

Hopehill has a wide range of facilites.  Leaders in the District volunteer as instructors for many of these.

  • NEW all weather air rifle range

  • All weather archery range

  • Climbing and abseiling tower

  • Pedal carts

  • Bouncy castle

  • Gyro cars

Plus acres of woods, a camp fire circle and field kitchen area, a large activity field, goalposts and access to footpaths in all directions.
