As you may know, all section Team members and Team leaders as well as Group Lead Volunteers need to acquire and maintain a first aid qualification, usually within a year of appointment. The Scouts minimum level of qualification is First Response, but if you have an external qualification or work training please let Dan know and we can check if that meets the requirements (there is often a small amount of top up which can be done as e-learning and a quick practical assessment). Adults who are not required to gain First Response are still welcome to attend training if they wish.
We are running First Response courses on Saturdays 6th December, 7th February and 7th March (all at Hopehill) – please email Fraser to book. There will probably be one or two more dates after that before the summer term (when activities tend to mean our instructors are too busy to run training), so if you need to complete before September please don’t wait until July.
We are also pleased to offer a trial of a 16 hour Outdoor First Aid Course on 7th / 8th March. There will be a charge of £35 for this for adults in Gravesham as we have additional costs to cover – this is very good value compared to commercial or even other scout courses! This course will also cover all the requirements of First Response. Please email Fraser to register interest (spaces are limited) and include why this is relevant for you.
