Hopehill is the heart of Gravesham Scouts, but it doesn’t run on woodsmoke alone! We are looking for dedicated members of our District to join the Warden Team.
The Mission
We need “Boots on the Ground” to oversee the site during our busy weekend peaks. This is a vital role that ensures Hopehill remains the premier destination for adventure in our area.
- The Welcome: Being the face of Gravesham Scouts—greeting arriving groups and showing them their sites.
- Site Stewardship: Conducting light-touch maintenance and ensuring the site stays usable, tidy and safe.
- The Business Side: Managing the paperwork and organising invoices to keep our site finances on track.
Not Sure What’s Involved? Come See for Yourself!
We don’t expect you to jump into the deep end. We want our wardens to feel confident and prepared.
- Pop in for a Chat: Give us a call, or email to arrange a time to pop in for a chat. The Duty Warden will be there to make you
a brew and talk you through a typical day. - Shadowing Opportunities: Interested but want to learn the ropes first? You can join us for a “Shadow Weekend” or more if needed. You’ll work alongside an experienced warden to learn the site layout, the invoicing process, and the “tricks of the trade” before taking on a leading role.
Who We’re Looking For
This role is open to current members of Gravesham Scouts who are:
- Organised, approachable, and comfortable chatting with visiting Leaders.
- Responsible enough to manage site security and financial admin.
- Available for weekends from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon on a flexible rota.
Important: As this role involves financial admin, all applicants must hold a valid Scouting DBS and be current members of the District.
