Local Hikes
Being located in the Kent North Downs we are lucky to have some great country side. From a simple walk round our 5 acres of woods to connecting up with National Trails. Choosing from our pre planned routes theses will take you on a circular route or amend them to suit your needs.
A simple amble round the woods can take as little as 15 minutes for an adult, for Beaver age this is a perfect expedition feeling like they have gone on a long hike but will take longer for those smaller legs. Being a self led activity in the country side there is no real limit to the number of people that can take part. No matter what size your walking party is please keep in mind the below.
Picnic and seating areas are limited once off site but there is always plenty enough green space to have lunch. The country side around Hopehill falls into the scout definition of terrain zero in general meaning activity requires no special qualification. Also great for a night hike the darker skies are great for seeing the stars, just remember to pack a torch in with the rest of your kit.
Owing to the location of the campsite we straddle OS Explorer maps 148 & 163. Depending on the direction you plan to walk maps 147 & 162 are handy as well. For the OS Landranger series 177, 178 & 188. We have a small selection of maps available.
S.E.N.D accessibility
Leaving the site via the front gate is the only step free access. Heading either north or south out of the gate will require that the A227 be crossed at least once and not fully tarmacked. Leaving via the woods will involve kissing gates. Steps and stiles are also a feature that may provide obstacles.
