Gravesham Scouts are look for 2 District Events Team Leaders to join the District team!
These two new event team leaders would help to oversee and support our youngest 3 sections at a District level.
The two roles will be broken down into;
- 4-7 Events Team Leader (Squirrels & Beavers)
- 8-10.5 Events Team Leader (Cubs)
What are we looking for exactly?
We are looking for two volunteers with strong leadership and coordination skills, with the ability to guide the delivery and development of the District programme for the relevant sections.
Each one of these roles is to support those volunteers running (and in some cases appoint volunteers to run) events for the sections at a District level, and not to directly run all events themselves (though they may want to lead on some events at their discretion).
The Role:
- Calendar planning: Work with section teams, young people and programme support leads to determine what District events should be run, and with the rest of the programme team to schedule these.
- Leadership and Coordination: Managing volunteers running events at a District level, including identifying volunteers to lead each event and ensuring they are suitably supported. Ensuring that a suitable designated volunteer is placed as ‘Leader In Charge’ for all events and that they are aware of what is required as ‘Leader In Charge’.
- Oversight: Overseeing the planning and running of events at District level, which may include camps, activity days, or other large-scale activities, when they are best delivered at that scale. This includes ensuring actions in relation to planning and running are done in a timely manner, as well as making sure that any financial reporting is actioned as required by the District.
- Safety: Ensuring all activities are run safely, which includes overseeing risk assessments, safety checks, and emergency procedures.
- Programme Support: Working with event leads, section leaders and other volunteers to ensure events contribute to a balanced programme and promote the achievement of badges and top awards.
- Communication: Facilitating effective communication among the event team and with relevant Sections, Groups and the District Leadership Team to ensure everyone is informed of plans and changes in a timely manner
- Resource Management: Ensuring all events have sufficient financial and physical resources, which may involve budgeting and fundraising.
- Collaboration: Working with other teams (e.g., Section Support leads, Youth Leads and other event or activities teams) to ensure events are inclusive, accessible, and shaped by young people’s ideas and feedback.
