DC Blog November

Updated: Nov 4, 2019

Firstly, congratulations to all those who attended and had awards presented at the Kent County Scout AGM in Rochester. A vast range of different achievements were recognised on the night and I’m proud to say Gravesham featured significantly in those awards. Well done to all those concerned

A big thank you to all those of you who took part and made a roaring success of the Big Litter Pick Up. A great many of you made a significant difference to our local area and an astonishing amount of litter was retrieved and disposed of. Another big thank you to Helen Smith, Pat Duncumb & Myles Sullivan for heading this one up. Specifically to Helen who, for circumstances beyond everyone’s control, managed it pretty much on her own at Hopehill on the day!!

We’ve been trying to collect as much information on the local Remembrance Parades as possible for Sunday 10th November. This is to ensure you can get this out to your sections if you haven't done so already.

Standard message for all parades is that all Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Network & Leaders should wear smart uniform with dark blue or black smart trousers and black or brown shoes. NO trainers or jeans please. Don’t forget woggles for neckers. If it is cold tell your members to wear an extra layer under their Scout shirts - unless it is freezing, or pouring with rain we won’t be wearing top coats.

This is an important series of parades and we do expect everyone to attend. This is only one of two parades we request per year and it is important that everyone makes a big effort on this occasion.

Your section leaders should be able to let you know which one your section or group will be participating in.

Assemble at 1st Northfleet Headquarters, at the playground at the end of Bersford Road/Burnaby Road , Northfleet at 10.15. Parade moves off at 10.40 to Northfleet Hill. Service at Northfleet Hill and dismissed from there at 11.20 ish.

The arrangements are the same as usual. We meet at 10.15 in Trinity Road, Gravesend (off Wellington Street). The parade moves off just after 10.30 and the service in the Memorial Gardens in Clarence Place starts just before 11.00. Afterwards we parade back to Trinity Road and dismiss at approx. 11.45.

Meet at the Scout Tree in School Lane at 9.00am, pick up from outside St Johns church at 11.00am.

Meet at Shorne Scout Hut at 9.30am, pick up from there at 11.20am.

Meet at the Cricket Pavilion on Meopham Green at 2:45pm. The road will be closed for the parade at 2pm so those with cars will need to park in Meopham School and walk up. Collection from Meopham Cricket Pavilion circa 3.45pm

Meet at C&V Scout Hut at 2.30pm, pick up from there after the service.
