Explorers learn about Road Safety

On Monday evening 50 Explorer Scouts and 10 leaders from all four Gravesham units visited Kent Fire & Rescue Services at Rochester to take part in their Road Safety Experience.

This facility is the only purpose built one of its kind in the UK and is designed to help young people learn from the experiences of others, improve their own safety and give them the skills they need to make better informed decisions in all driver and passenger situations.

The evening was very interactive and the Explorers were able to look at the consequences of accidents from the perspective of themselves, passengers, other drivers and the effect on their families.

The evening was hard hitting and made both Explorers and their leaders stop and think carefully about their behaviour in a mode of transport we all take for granted. The consequences of an accident can be truly life changing”.
