Last night's District Explorer meeting was “Paper Engineering” The 50 plus Explorers present at Hopehill were set two tasks working in small groups of 4-6.
The first was to build the tallest tower possible from a single newspaper and a small roll of tape. The towers were judged on design and height, with the tallest reaching 2.4 metres.
The second task was to build a bridge, using the same materials to span the 1.5 metre gap between two tables. The bridges were then weight tested with the most successful supporting the weight of 6 metal kettles and 5 eggs.
