Year of the Volunteer

Thank you to everyone volunteering with Gravesham Scouts.

Badge celebrating year of the volunteer
Certificate of Achievement Cenrating the Year of the Volunteer

As part of its celebration to mark its 50th anniversary Gravesham Borough Council made 2024 The Year of the Volunteer. They decided to mark it with an afternoon tea party to be held on 25th September at the Woodville Halls.

All the volunteer organisations in the Borough were invited and Fraser asked Jan, Terry and I to represent the District. So we presented ourselves at 2pm along with a great many other people from Age Concern to The Street Pastors and every volunteer organisation in between.

After being made welcome, listening to several speeches praising the work of the volunteers and watching a video about various aspects of volunteering in the Borough a very nice tea of sandwiches, cream scones and cakes was served. This was followed by a female soloist singing everything from Jazz to Pop.

The Mayor closed the afternoon with another of his inspirational speeches on volunteering followed by presenting all there with a certificate and Year of the Volunteer badge. Terry, Jan and I were honoured to accept the badge and certificate shown on this post on behalf of everyone who volunteers with Gravesham Scouts.
