In the summer of 2027 the World Scout Jamboree will be taking place in Poland. Gravesham Scouts have been given 5 places for participants to take part in this amazing event alongside other members of Scouts from Kent, the UK and across the globe!
Over the weekend of November 21st to 23rd, Gravesham Scouts will be holding a selection event at Hopehill for all those who wish to apply for a place for this opportunity. The selection weekend will be a fun weekend full of challenges and opportunities for individuals to shine throughout. There will be a cost of £20 for attending the weekend, this will cover activities and food for the weekend (payment details will be provided post initial applications).
The age requirement for youth participants is 14 to 17 years old at the time of the event. This means they need to have been born between July 30th 2009 and July 30th 2013. Anyone born after those dates will have the chance to apply for the 2031 event being held in Denmark and those that are ‘too old’ to attend as participants can seek other opportunities via Scouts.org.uk/wsj
Not sure whether to apply to come or not? On Wednesday 8th October, we will be holding an information evening at Hopehill that will help explain further as to what the World Scout Jamboree is, what is involved from selection to return and more plus the expected commitment from those involved. This will run from 7pm till 8.30pm, with an opportunity for you to ask questions and potentially meet past attendees… the kettle will be on throughout!
One of the biggest questions is cost, and at the moment we are waiting for the final figures from Kent Scouts, but we believe that per participant this will be £3500 (however that covers pretty much everything including pre-camps and some kit as well as the event itself!). There will be plenty of support and opportunities from the District to aid fundraising and more as well. Please don’t let the cost be a barrier to the opportunity as we can discuss financial support at a later date as and when needed, on an individual basis.

*This form should be filled out by the young person applying so that we can understand why they want to be part of the World Scout Jamboree. The parent/carer(s) of the applicant will receive an email to input the relevant information for the selection camp weekend and give consent following the information evening.
