Autumn Hillcraft Shakedown

You should come dressed and prepared for an evening hike. (Note uniform not required, only Scout scarf) You will need spare warm clothes, waterproofs, first aid kit, compass, map case, OS Explorer Map 148, lunch/snack for the walk, emergency rations and a flask with a hot drink packed in a day sac (30-40 litres). In addition, you need breakfast, cooker, a sleeping bag, roll mat and tent for a lightweight overnight camp. If you are unsure of what to bring, you should speak with your leader first. It is important that you come suitably dressed and equipped as this will count towards your course assessment and your eligibility to attend the Autumn Hillcraft Course.

Individual Walking Parties will be formed and following the training sessions, a Night Hike will be undertaken to check equipment and develop navigation and hiking skills. Your Party Leader will discuss with you possible hike routes and recommend maps that you should take to Wales
