A busy month of Scouting activities
In these times of 'doing things differently,' we at 11th have been busy adapting our program and wanted to share some of our extra activities with you all. We had so many things organised so have been busy looking at ways we can sort participation in a social distance way, supporting the current mantra of 'the great indoors'.
This month we have the Jamboree on the Trail (JOTT). The focus weekend is coming up on the 8th May, so we have set the beavers the challenge of using their 'daily exercise' as a chance to do a 1hr hike, tracking their route and taking in that joys of nature that are around us. This would have been our group's first international scouting event, so even though we are unable to do it together, we were keen to still take part and share with each other. For those who are unable to do it on the day due to key worker commitments, they have started early, with the rest of us ready to follow next weekend.
VE day. A chance to commemorate this important event, a moment in history, and for our young beavers, the first remembrance event that they would have celebrated. We have a weekend of activities for them to do to help them decorate their houses. From the safety of their homes. they can take part in events, celebrate with their family, and learn about this 75th special.
We also had our first outdoor camp planned, a Mayhem special, which is now being done on the County focus weekend. Another chance for our the Beavers to see other groups and experience what scouting is all about now, in this random stage of history, so they have something to talk about when we get back in the 'great outdoors'.
We can't wait for the lockdown to be over, and outdoor pursuits to start again, but in the meantime, we have embraced the digital technology available to us. Keeping the newest group in town thriving and ready to return.
