Scout Climbers Activity Badge

Are you a Scout who has some previous climbing experience and wants to further your climbing knowledge and experience, or a Scout who has always been keen to try indoor climbing for the first time?

In both of these cases, the Scouts Climbers Activity Badge offers an excellent opportunity for Scouts to be taught the fundamentals of indoor climbing at a purpose built indoor climbing facility located just off junction 6 of the M20. During the 6 hour course, Scouts will have the opportunity to complete a minimum of 4 indoor climbing routes, under the supervision of experienced Scout climbing instructors. In addition, Scouts will also be presented with the opportunity to complete a 25ft abseil descent in a designated area within the Lower Grange Farm Climbing Barn facility. Practical skills are reinforced over the course of the day with some minimal climbing theory, educating Scouts regarding safe climbing practices, rope identification, coiling and care, safe equipment usage and inspection and also consideration for how skills learnt in an indoor environment could potentially transfer to climbing outdoors on real rock faces.

The course is run in a very relaxed environment, with no exam type questions to answer. You just need to arrive wearing suitable clothing and footwear, with an eagerness to learn and a packed lunch. The course delivery starts promptly at 10am and Scouts will need to be collected at 4pm.

Course Benefits:

  • The course is planned and run by experienced Scout-authorised climbing instructors

  • No previous climbing experience is necessary - all skill levels are accepted

  • Participants who fulfill the course requirements will be awarded the Climbers activity badge and certificate at the end of the days training

  • Provides an excellent transitional step for Scouts to become involved in training courses forming part of the nationally recognised NICAS indoor climbing qualifications

The badge courses are £30 for the day.
