Dear all,

Please see below for details about this year's Saint George's Day Parade.

- The date for the parade is Sunday 21st April 2024.

- At 14:00, the parade will form up outside the town hall at the bottom of the high street

- Groups should bring their section flags with them to be carried by the young people.

- The parade will march off at 14:15 and will follow up the high street into Windmill Street, crossing Railway Place and then turning right into Community Square arriving at approximately 14:25 for a 14:30 service.

- Those who cannot easily walk the distance are more than welcome to meet at Community Square for the service at 14:30.

- A short service and renewal of promises will take place led by the District Chaplain, District Youth Lead, and various young people from all sections.

- At approximately 15:10, the service will conclude following a message from the mayor or their representative and the National Anthem.

- The parade will then return to the start point following the same route in reverse. As the parade passes the library on Windmill Street, there will be a saluting base. The salute will be taken by the county scout representative, the mayor of Gravesham (or their representative), and possibly other VIPs.

- The parade will be dismissed when it returns to the start point at approximately 15:30.

Parents and family are welcome to follow the parade and gather at the back/sides of Community Square but should be discouraged from walking beside the parade as this causes unnecessary congestion amongst participants.

Any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me on youth@graveshamscouts.org.uk

I hope to see as many of you there as possible!
