District Bulletin – May 2025

Scouts, beavers, cubs explorers parading in gravesend town center for remembrance day parade 2025

April saw over 70 young people and adults at Rydal Hall in the Lake District for a successful 58th Easter Hillcraft.  The weather ranged from driving rain on arrival to glorious sun on the last day; some great walks, memories and photographs.

St George’s Day this year was blessed with sunshine – perhaps too much – and we tried something new with activities after the celebration.  Feedback is welcome!

In May we have a Beaver Sleepover and District Cub camp and Scout Service camp, as well as a number of DofE expeditions. Details are out for Kontiki, Cubs on Water, JP Bond, Bell Boating and the Hopehill 75th Birthday camp and Autumn Hillcraft will be out soon.

We have some initial information about the 26th World Scout Jamboree in Poland in 2027.  Any adult interested in applying as a leader needs to do so by 30th May.  Details of the selection process for young people will be out by the summer.

Thank you to those who have logged on to the new membership system and completed their Safety and other on line training.  There are still many of you who haven’t – 152 people still need to do the safety training, and 136 members need to log on.  Although there are definitely some issues, the new training is definitely better than the old.  Please don’t ignore this – I am asking you to complete this by 31st May so we have time to solve any problems.  If you need help please reach out to me or in your group for help.
