We have our first paddlesport session of 2024 on Sat 13th January.

This session is for Scouts and Explorers and this first session of 2024 will be at Leybourne Lake.

This session will be an introduction or development using canoes and our brand new SUPs.

For those new to paddling please see FAQs below:


Will it be cold?

Probably – check weather forecast and remember ‘Be Prepared’


Will I get wet?

Possibly – the aim is to provide training to build confidence and knowledge in paddlesport


What should I wear?

On the water - Wet suit if you have one or suitable clothing (NO JEANS) that can get

wet but will keep you warm ie: fleece top

- You will also need footwear (old trainers) that will get wet.

- Windproof jacket /cag is always a good idea

- You will be provided with a Buoyancy aid and helmet together with any

other safety kit required.

Off the water - Warm dry clothing to change into at end of session


How long is session?

Arrive at 8:30am and finish around 1:30pm. We will have a break mid-day so bring

packed lunch.


Is lunch included?

No, you will need to bring a pack lunch and hot drink. There is a café on site for light snacks

and refreshments


How much will session cost?

Access fee for the lake is £10 per boat


Where is Leybourne Lake or Teston Country Park?

Check event for details of location, Leybourne Lakes country Park, Malling Rd, Snodland ME20 6JA


Do I need any previous paddling experience?

No. This is an intro session to cover the basics of paddling and develop skills and session will

be tailored to individual’s abilities.


Do I need to be able to swim?

Yes. This is a water-based activity, and you are required to wear a buoyancy aid for the

duration of the activity.

You will also need to complete Participation Agreement in advance to confirm you can

swim.


How far do I need to swim?

This is not a swimming activity and in reality, only need to be able to swim 10m.

You are required to wear a buoyancy aid for the duration of the activity.
